4 Nov 2007 - U-Boat Dive, Sunday 04/11/07
Ue74 was a U-Boat Minelayer which disappeared in 1916 after entering the Forth to lay a minefield. She was located and first dived in 1993 and has been dived several times by our Club. Lying in 42m 3.5 miles from Dunbar this is a cracking Dive as she is small enough to be able to get round her without racking up lots of Decompression stops.
She lies at an angle of 20-30 degrees with the bow 2-3m off the seabed, the stern behiund the Deck Gun has sunk into the muddy seabed. she is intact with all her hatches closed and is the last resting place for all 34 of her crew.
A fairly serious Dive it should only been done by very experienced Sports Divers used to planning their dives and comfortable with Decompression Stop Diving.
If you put in a search for UE74 on Youtube there is a pretty good video of a Dive on this wreck.
