4 May 2008 - St Abbs 04-May 2008
Toms Dive Marshall Date 04-May 2008
We took a chance and tried St Abbs as the forecast was for Light SE winds......typical we arrived and it was a strong NE to E. This ruled out Cathedral Rock and Green Carr, but well done to Tom for deciding to try Seagull Rock.

Seagull Rock at the West of the Harbour
First Dive went well, with everyone getting to the Rock, lots of life returning, vis was a variable 5m+, and the temp was a chilly 7 degrees. you swim out on a bearing of 30deg to get to a White Sandy area then you hit the wall of rock, best to go Clockwise around it, large Cave at the Seaward side is very interesting , Max depth is about 12-13m, once you come on to the Sand again a 210deg bearing takes you back to the shore (be careful of wandering too far East and ending up in the Harbour Fairway).

Dougie Wills, Andy Clark and Tom Van Agtmael dived as a 3, Andys camera ran out of Battery just as I found a nice lumpsucker...Bummer,,..but he got a Cracking Picture of a Long Tailed Scorpion Fish..We saw lobsters and Crabs and lots of small stuff...a good dive.

Not Happy Lump Sucker
2nd Dive Stevie sat out as he was a bit wet, so Karen Dived with Tom, Tide was going out fast and after 40mins they all had a struggle (with some good falls) getting out of the water.

Wet Karen before a slip and Fall
A good day apart from the weather not doing what it was predicted, this site is best dived on a high tide as tricky in and out on low water.
