4 Oct 2005 - The SQSAC Four Inches Project 2006
To help us find more Dive Sites in the Forth, and investigate what Sealife exists this far up river, we have decided to look at the Four Inches, Inchgarvie, Inchmickery, Inchcolm and Inchkeith these islands have never been properly surveyed to see what exists below the water.
Phase One this winter is to get as many Club members as possible to attend a 'Diving with a Purpose' event which will be run by SQSAC with Phil Robertson from the NAS (Nautical Archaeology Society) Scotland, and to see if we can do the same with a Sea Search event to examine and document SeaLife.
Phase Two Winter/Spring will, weather dependant, be a shore survey, followed by a snorkel survey to identify Sea Life.
Phase Three Spring Summer, Dive the Islands and survey New Wreck sites
Phase Four as above look at Outer Reefs and Deeper wrecks.
It wont be practical or safe to Dive Inchgarvie due to strong tides and currents
same goes for parts of Inchcolm.
