9 Jul 2006 - Submarine discovered !
Stevie and Warren were diving with a group from the North east of England, The Dive Boat was 'Northstar, out of Eyemouth.Stevie says -
'After a Dive on what was thought to be the wreck of a Trawler we were amazed to find an intact Submarine !'
It was found 3 miles off Eyemouth in 60m Stevie Adams and Warren Izzett were in the group who discovered this wreck. It is thought to be the British submarine H11 which was lost in 1920 while under tow, but could also be an unknown German U-Boat, 2 dives so far have been unable to get a positive Identification.
Recent research tends to point towards it being the H11, but more Dives will be required to prove this.
at 60metres this is a deep dive , strong currents are found in this area, so careful planning and use of Rebreathers and mixed gases are needed.
