Warren flew to Malta from Moscow, via Amsterdam and arrived on time, the rest of us were to fly with 'British Jet' from Glasgow. I wont go into the details , but due to a Computer Failure we had an 18 hour delay, so we lost a days Diving. The transfers from Airport to Apartment was pretty slick, Mini-Bus - Ferry - Mini-Bus.
The Apartments were fairly basic but fine for what we wanted. The Dive package includes unlimited Cylinders/Fills, Apartments and Car Hire, so we had 2 little 4WD vehicles, which were ok...wouldnt pass an MOT but fine for Gozo.
We managed 11 Dives in 5 Days Diving, which considering it was blowing a Gale most of the week, and no Boat Dives due to Storms, was ok.
We had Sun Rain Wind Thunder and Lightning...and that was all in one Day!
The Diving In Gozo is very good, and with more wrecks being sunk for Divers it gives a lot of options on a trip. We crossed over to Malta fo one Day to Dive the Um-el-Faroud a tanker sunk for Divers in the South of the Island, and the Tug Boat Rozi at the Ferry Terminal at the North of the Island. If the weather had been favourable I think we would have stayed in Gozo as there is more than enough Diving with minimal travel.
When I looked at my Computer I was surprised to see only 2 Dives out of 10 were shallower than 30m, and the majority were over 40m...The VR3 Computers were very conservative, mine giving me on average 16mins of stops per Dive, where the Aladin's were only giving 1-3 mins of stops, which normally cleared on ascent.
Deep stops didnt cause any problems to our Buddies as they could ascend and still see us..
Highlight of the week for me was the six cuttlefish that showed a lot of interest in us when we were doing our stops after Diving the SS Cominoland..I had never seen a Cuttlefish, and they were amazing...changing colours and getting very close...
Anyway I will post our Pictures on a website and link to it in the next few days..
The Pictures above are Ally (Steamboat Willie) Macgregor in the Bridge of the Rozi.
and 'Blue' Gavin Wilkie relaxing on his 6metre stop in the Blue Hole
